One of my favorites was a super-sized Batman collection that featured his first encounter with Ra’s al Ghul, and I probably reread it at least a hundred times. This story is unfairly rated on Amazon by some people because of this. (Yes, Batwoman came out of that weird late 1950s/early 1960s period in Batman history, but Bob Rozakis had brought her back in the mid-'70s in BATMAN FAMILY and made her more than a woman trRa's al Ghul was never my favorite Batman opponent.
These stories are usually told in a narrative tone, rather than a "what's going through Batman's head at the time" time tone. Lost one star cause some of the art work seemed subpar. He uses a few corny disguises and gadgets. It contains the first appearances of Talia, Ras Al Ghul, and Matches Malone. Batman: Son of the Demon is a 1987 graphic novel by writer Mike W. Barr and artist Jerry Bingham, published by DC Comics.

His stories are nice in theory: they're street-level and gritty (in contrast to silver age Batman), they take place in exotic locales and they have mystery and thrills, but they fall apart on even the slighteI've never been that crazy about Denny O'Neil. The longest storyline in the book, wherI'm a huge fan of Ra's al Ghul, one of my favorite Bat villains.
However, I'm going through all the Batman trades my library has, so I read this. That doesn't stop Batman from trying to thwart their evil schemes however, so it all plays out like a never ending chess match between three very intelligent and capable characters that will continue for many years. The final issue was a little disappointing as this war between Ra’s and The Sensi is concluded in an unsatisfying way. I also really liked the dialogue at the end that goes into Ras' history after these tales were written and how Dennis O'Neal reinvigorated the Batman franchise with a new major villain and his implications today. The creation of Ra's Al Ghul is a fantastic addition to the Batman mythos, as he is a villain who has such a level of respect for Batman. It's hilarious the number of times this strip features Batman wearing the cowl in incongruous situations: stripped to the waist for a sword duel, in the hospital, while skiing, while climbing mountains, etc. Every story in the collection was written by Denny O'Neil, featuring artwork from Neal Adams, Bob Brown, Irv Novick, Dick Giordano, Michael Golden, and Don Newton. Either way, Tales of the Demon is definitely a must read.

And Ra's goes into the Lazarus pits just to come back. I have always loved Batman and this is one of the best, to me at least, in the Batman comic publications. However, the majority of the issues were good and introduced a lot of aspects of these characters that would stick with them for a long time. In this new printing of a classic collection, meet one of Batman's most formidable adversaries; the founder of the League of Assassins known as Ra's al Ghul! Ras Al Ghul is one of the best Batman villains out there. Though as shown here, he started as a sort of anti-hero. He, along with his daughter Talia, are showcased in this volume, and we even see appearances from the original Batwoman and the Bronze Tiger. If you are a Batman fan, these stories are important.

I found this item quickly & at a great price. I wish I read this before I read Contagion, Bane of the Demon and Legacy, so I could have had a better understanding of the relationship between Batman, Talia and Ra's al Ghul. In my mind, Batman only belongs with Catwoman and even then...never more than a nighttime dalliance that builds to a kiss. Also, I don't understand the relationship between Talia and Batman.
