It’s not a great game, but it was the end of the line for Atari, and this game shows me what the Jaguar could have been capable of.So, my choice for 5 of the best Atari Jaguar games. It is based on an Atari STe game of the same name but is actually more of a sequel than a straight conversion (why not Zero 6?).. Programmed by one guy, Francois Bertrand, who previously managed the camera in Virtua Fighter, Fight for Life carries a lot of similarities to that franchise but lacked a lot of the polish.The fights are slow, long and sluggish.
I wanted to do a top 5 list but I didn’t want to just tackle the ‘best’ the Atari Jaguar has to offer.
The games that can’t be emulated, are a lot of fun to play with friends and create a unique Atari Jaguar experience for me.I also wanted to ensure I had a cross-section of genres to pick between. This cult machine is the technological equivalent of Marmite; you either love it or hate it.
Add in the fact it is one of the best versions of this classic game and you can see why the demand has sky-rocketed over the last few years.Chance of finding a new copy: You are more likely to be teleported to an alien planet after an experiment with a particle accelerator goes hideously wrong!The kart racing game to rival Mario?
These are for the collectors out there, I’d recommend sticking with the original Iron Soldier.Again, we’ve got a fun, simple, 2-player game. It’s not technically impressive, but compared with the Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, it does stand out.We’ve got a bunch of different teams; Goats, Lizards, Warlocks, etc. This is an awesome addition.
I really hope you don’t fully agree with my list, because I’d love to see your suggestions below! It emulates well, but when it comes to 2-player games for the Atari Jaguar, the library needs all the help it can get.
It’s chaotic fun, and I’m still surprised by what can happen in the game.The game itself is a port of an Amiga computer game, but I’ll consider it an Atari Jaguar ‘console’ exclusive.
The Jaguar received little third-party support, and most of Atari's games were second-rate versions of arcade hits like Virtua Racing and Mortal Kombat. This is an awesome addition. Each character had their own overlay for use in the game and despite a somewhat choppy appearance, Rebellion managed to make a really enjoyable FPS game (and would later go on to kill it on the Jaguar with Skyhammer.
I loved the way this game broke down the missions and introduced some variety with different objectives, enemies and winning conditions.As an early 3D game for the Atari Jaguar, they made Iron Solder big, bright and colourful. Originally created exclusively for Atari’s machine (it was later ported to the PlayStation and other consoles like the Saturn) Michael Ancel’s platformer still looks sumptuous and boasts some utterly stunning locations.
Only 67 games were officially released for the Jaguar. Recommended Posts. Ignorant comments like these totally disregard all the excellent ports the Jaguar has of classic games such as Sensible Soccer, Raiden, Worms, Rayman, Flashback, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and Pinball Fantasies. There’s a lot of exclusive games for the Atari Jaguar that just haven’t been emulated properly. The game was again released quite late in the Jaguar’s lifespan and received mainly positive reviews.Chance of finding a new copy: You will have to climb the tallest towers to find a copy and even then your mission may end in plight!This Team 17 classic is not a rare game and was one of the best ever selling games on the Amiga! Protector: Special Edition (2002) Publisher: Songbird Productions.
