I have read a few of the other 'big' Batman stories - Batman: Year One & Dark Knight Returns & yeah this wasn't quite as epic as the aforementioned classics but it was still really fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Slowly, the "freaks"--as the mafia calls them--start to gain more and more power by simply being a more unorganized crime source (as opposed to organized crime). Dark Victory is gorgeous with TLH was with Tim Sale's ever improving artwork, shadowplay, and his art giving clues to the noir mystery in the main arc.
