In the near future with a intergalactic vampire plague threatening earth, an expedition is sent to a distant galaxy in hopes of discovering the plague's source. They were unable to cut them completely out of the movie, though, which is why Tamblyn and his biker gang seem to be wandering in and out of the film, with no connection to the story line and with not much to do. Horror Maverick indie filmmaker Al Adamson's real life was even crazier than one of the 30-plus sex 'n' schlock drive-in movies he made in the '60s and '70s. (guess you knew this was coming!) This film is a tangled mass(mess) of various plot strands, corny dialogue, bad, bad, bad acting, cheap, cheap, cheap sets and props, worthless cameos by what would have been a great cast twenty years prior to its production, and a pretty feeble direction even by Al Adamson standards(We're talking LOW!) For me, aside from walking down memory lane and being reminded how bad film-making can be, the one real bright spot was seeing Forrest Ackerman in his cameo. So I figured same for this, especially since this one was a part of my cinematic past. Chaney is almost as bad. However, he had only one real eye, so in his dialogue close-ups you can see one eye moving back and forth, reading the lines, while the other eye remains fixed in position. Lon Chaney Jr. appears in this film, which features both Dracula and The Frankenstein Monster.
There were scenes etched in my mind, most notably the pier and J. Carrol Naish in a wheelchair barking out orders to a grunting, balloon-faced Lon Chaney Jr. 12 of 17 people found this review helpful. Dracula was not the only thing that sucked in this picture!
