The whole Kramer family is silent and they wonder who killed Slappy. It was later followed up by Night of the Living Dummy II in 1995 and Night of the Living Dummy III in 1996. Then weird things begin to happen. When the girls get to their room, they find Slappy waiting for them. The cover illustration depicts Slappy the Dummy in the HorrorLand theme park, sitting on the turnstile in front of the theme park's entrance, gesturing with his arm towards it. Furious, Amy locks Slappy in the closet and goes to ask Sara for help. This is the first book where Slappy is the lead villain.
To show how serious he is, Mr. Wood begins to choke Barky, the family dog. That's when her dad finds Slappy in a local pawn shop. As soon as the parents leave, Mr. Wood comes back to life, insisting that Lindy and Kris are his slaves. Night of the Living Dummy is the seventh book in the original Goosebumps book series, and the first book in the Living Dummy saga. It was published in 2008, alongside Creep from the Deep.

Slappy threatens to destroy more of her family's belongings if she doesn't do what he says. He doesn't notice the second steamroller, however, and it crushes Mr. Wood. Kris locks Mr. Wood in a closet and goes to sleep. It turns out that Jed had fallen asleep and forgot to disguise himself as Dennis. Together, the sisters grab Slappy and throw him down a sewer. Kris crawls away from Mr. Wood and screams for help.
Mr. Wood dodges the first steamroller and tells them that both will be his slaves forever.
Then terrible things start happening. Amy vows to catch Slappy moving on his own and expose him. When Kris decides to investigate, she discovers that Mr. Wood is alive. Amy apologizes and goes to sleep a little angry and confused. She insists that Slappy had something to do with the vandalism in Sara's room. Amy stops Slappy, but she is discovered by Sara. A worm-like creature comes out of the dummy's broken head and wriggles away through a crack in the wall. Later that day, Sara discovers that all of the walls in her room have been scrawled with Amy's name, written repeatedly in red paint. Evil things. The girls try to decapitate the dummy, but they are unable to harm him. When Sara returns, she finds her room completely destroyed and all of her paintings ruined. Later that day, Mr. Kramer comes home with a gift for Amy: a new ventriloquist dummy named Amy tells Margo that she will be able to perform at her father's restaurant because she has received a new dummy. Worried about Amy's behavior, her parents leave. She was tired of Kris being a copycat, so she decided to pull this big prank on Kris. Because there's something odd about Slappy. While he is initially accused of the vandalism, Jed says that he isn't responsible, and he says that he saw Amy enter Sara's room. When Alicia shakes his hand, Slappy holds her tightly and doesn't let go. Nasty things. That night, Amy watches Slappy exit her closet. Revenge of the Living Dummy is the first book in the Goosebumps HorrorLand book series, and is the sixth book in the Living Dummy saga. When Mr. Wood releases Barky, the girls chase the dummy into the path of a nearby steamroller being used for construction at the house next door.
