Its here we learn that Holstedder used to host his own singing horror show inside the holocaust camp called The Star Of Buchenwald.Meanwhile in Florida, Millie continues her investigation and visits Detective Sommers, showing him the picture of Greta and subsequently building another link from her colleague’s expertise. He hands Travis the gun and an envelope, letting him shoot him in the arm to give the illusion that he’s the sole survivor of a shoot-out.A bitter and angry Jonah sits through the funeral for his Grandmother before sitting outside on the porch at the wake and stewing in his emotions. After their conversation, Jonah finds a hidden compartment in the bookshelf and proceeds to open it. Although Joe saves him from his fate, the ensuing blast also kills the broadcast, forcing the Hunters to leave.Meanwhile, Travis abducts the Sommer Household and holds them up at gunpoint, forcing them to divulge information about Millie. Auschwitz and Buchenwald are featured flashback locations and a decision has been made to feature atrocities, but fictional atrocities. The man tasers him, proceeding to tie him down and interrogating him over his Grandmother and who sent him. To be honest, the jokes rarely land and although the lighthearted segments are used to try and offset the darker Nazi story beats, it doesn’t always work that effectively.Still, the third act to this chapter is the highlight here after a relatively laid-back first half, and with an overarching narrative now starting to sneak into the plot, the show leaves things wide open going forward. Firstly, there is the casting of Despite all of that, the first episode turns out to be a well-painted but messy and abstract hodgepodge of various ideas that fail to provide coherence in tone. Millie follows the lead after finding out Greta’s case has been completely wiped from the system and visits Frannie Fischer, who tells her her husband died in a car accident. Jonah and his friends are introduced leaving a screening of With Pacino, obviously Italian but a veteran Semitic masquerader, leading the way, there's something exaggerated to even the more "authentic" Jewish turns — Lerman and co-stars Josh Radnor, Carol Kane and Saul Rubinek are all Members of the Tribe — that fits the exploitation genre. Will it employ something like a Nazi-of-the-episode format? In his first regular TV series role, Al Pacino delivers a performance in Amazon's Set in the summer of 1977, the show begins with a series of deaths, letting audiences know that Nazis have infiltrated the country in daunting — any quantity greater than "zero" is probably "daunting" — numbers. As he reads them, we cut back in time to the camps as we see the devastation first-hand. Some people may see this as messy, with the darker, violent segments juxtaposing to the bright visuals and Wes Anderson-esque scenes but to be honest, it works quite well to symbolize this bright facade hiding a dark underbelly.The topic of Nazis operating in America will almost certainly ruffle some feathers, with some lamenting the humour and way this has been spun but if you can get past that, there’s some good stuff here that makes Hunters a really interesting series.
