Janja explains what Scar had told him about Kion's ability to defeat Scar once and for all. At first, Uroho is receptive to their thanks, but when Kion mentions that he is the son of Ma Tembo tells Kion there is a food thief in the Pride LandsWith the troop otherwise occupied, the Lion Guard returns to their patrol. Just then, Makuu defeats Kiburi in the mashindano. When Makini volunteers to collect more yellow fruit for the paint, Kion suggests continuing the ceremony without any paint. The Lion Guard heaves rocks into the path of Kion's Roar in order to block up a damAzaad leads the team to the fastest route home: a narrow canyon pass. Kion then questions how Simba had fared with the Guard, and Simba admits that working with Kion's team had helped him find Udugu as well. Once safe, they resolve to clear the now blocked trail from Kion helps rescue Cheezi and Chungu from a mudslideOno soon arrives with news that Janja is nowhere to be seen, and Kion orders Cheezi and Chungu to return to the Outlands without him.
Nala: This was Simba’s girlfriend in the first Lion King movie. However, Mufasa looked away towards the other end of the waterhole with a concerned expression. His tail tuft matches his head tuft in color, being somewhat bushier than his father's, and his eye rims follow the usual pattern, with the top shade being darker than his main pelt, while the bottom shade is lighter than his main pelt. They muse over where Nala could be, and Kion points out that Nala could have climbed up on a nearby ledge and followed a trail along the cliff. Seeing his mother Nala trapped by hyenas, Kion prepares to use the Roar of the Elders in a rageInstead of heeding Nala's warning, Janja surrounds her with his cronies and orders an attack.
Together, the Lion Guard and Jasiri fend off the Outsiders and corner them against a wall of the pit. Mufasa, a large lion with a crimson mane and a golden coat, the king of the Pridelands, and his young son Simba, he had a brighter gold coat then his father, and the same color of gold on the tuft at the top of his head, the king and his son stood at the edge of Pride Rock. The Lion Guard reassures the herd that they're safe, and Kion sends Ono to guide the zebras home. The rocks trap Bunga and block the pass, which frustrates Kion. While they're talking, Kion spots Fuli hunting by herself, and he calls out to her, inviting her to join his family on a hunt. Appalled at Makuu for being so willing to share with the other Ono informs Kion of three crocodiles leaving the mashindanoSimba overhears the fight and arrives to find Kiburi's lackeys defeated. With the danger abated, Kion suggests that they continue up the mountain, but the gorillas try one last tactic to stall the Lion Guard.
The Lion Guard is alerted to the presence of three predators: While Kion attempts to find Janja, Beshte and Bunga search the river bank for Makuu, and Fuli and Ono track down Goigoi. Though the friends are shocked at being perceived as villains, Kion resolves to earn the aardwolves' trust before trying to lead them home. Kion competes against Vitani in the Battle of the Lion GuardsThe next day, the Lion Guard returns to their lair, but discover that Vitani and her Lion Guard are already there. Hadithi unconfidently assures him that he'll arrive soon, and Kion and Fuli exchange a worried glance.

Confused, the cubs wonder where Nala could have possibly gone. As Bunga grieves, Kion gently reminds him that they've just spotted vultures circling over the savanna and that an animal may need their help. Once in the water, he calms and begins to float on his back.
Later, Kion and the rest of the team arrive at Pride Rock, where Simba is weak, but recovering.
He then charges after the hyenas, chasing them into the Outlands, but as he crosses a log, it breaks beneath his weight, and he falls into the raging river below. The mongoose explains that The Lion Guard stumbles upon an island.
Though the team looks to Kion for direction, he asks Fuli for help, as he is not thinking clearly. Once above ground, the friends are met by Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to blast the Outlanders away from the antelopeNo sooner have they finished when Ono alerts them that the crocodiles, hyenas, and jackals have returned to hunt a herd of sable antelope. A horrified Beshte realizes that his hippo lanes are not useful at all. After Kion's decision, Vitani questions Kion on what it means to master the Roar, and Kion demonstrates by picking up Pride Rock with the power of the Roar, which amazes Vitani.
They take shelter in a canyon, but a loose rock tumbles down toward Kion.
The Lion Guard offers to help the red pandas defeat the "Ghost of the Mountain"While on their way to the Tree of Life, the Lion Guard reaches a Kion and the others find Bunga surrounded by a pack of The team journeys up the mountain, where they are set upon by an invisible foe. Rafiki approaches the Lion Guard and thanks them for their help in saving his life. Don't worry I won't tell mom." Though Bunga encourages Kion to use the Roar of the Elders, the cub decides against it, not wanting to be like Scar and lash out in anger. In answer, the Lion Guard drops hints to Dhahabu that she can be a good leader by fighting back, and Dhahabu quickly takes action, knocking over Makucha and kicking him into the dam.
Ono then leads Beshte to a high vantage point where he can see the entire Flood Plains, and Beshte realizes that he has been cutting twisty paths throughout the area, not "straight and true" lanes like his father had instructed him to make.
Zira counters that Kion has left her no choice, for he has sided with Jasiri and her clan over the Outsiders.
